Microscan
industrial barcode scanner and 2D code reader products are designed to
read fast moving labels in automated manufacturing applications such as
printed circuit board production and electronic component manufacturing.
1D bar codes or 2D data matrix codes can be marked by laser etching, ink
jet or tampon printed methods. 2D codes such as data matrix are being
used as well as traditional 1D bar codes.
Implementing bar code reader/scanner technology can improve throughput
and efficiency in almost any manufacturing or assembly environment.
Fixed-position bar code scanners and 2D code readers provide an
automated "hands free" solution to data collection and tracking, whilst
hand held wireless bar code scanners/readers can be used to check stock
at different locations. Uses include W.I.P., process control, lot
tracking, and distribution. Microscan's IP65 certified bar code scanners
are durable and designed to be compact enough to mount almost anywhere
such as along conveyor lines or as component within large machinery
Compact
size, reliability and high speed reading make Microscan the no. 1
implemented fixed position bar code laser scanner for document handling
companies worldwide. Microscan bar code scanners integrate easily into
complex document handling machines and perform tracking, verification
and routing instruction functions.
The
automotive industry places considerable emphasis on parts traceability
both within the manufacturing plant and when the vehicle is on the road.
Direct Part Marking is being used throughout the aerospace
industry and is a requirement of the US Department of Defense. The human readable mark requires optical character OCR software and
solutions but barcode, data matrix and QR codes are easier and quicker
to mark, take up much less space and can be read by simpler and less
expensive equipment. Even the smallest of parts can normally be marked
using a laser to carry out 2D data matrix etching. Larger parts can be
dot-peened, electrochemically etched or using an inkjet printer. See
also direct part marking. Either fixed position or hand held products
can be used according to the situation. A vehicle barcode reader could
be either hand held or fixed.
Microscan
has been servicing the clinical industry for over 15 years with the most
reliable, compact bar code scanners available for OEM clinical
diagnostic machines. Microscan's high speed scanners are designed to be
to be compact and fit into even the tightest spaces. There are a number
of bar code scanners that are suited for size, speed and the ability to
read a range of codes including 1D bar codes, PDF417, data matrix,
Pharmacode, QR code and many more. For laboratory automation, mounted
scanners can provide a "hands free" solution to data collection as coded
items are passed under the bar code scanner beam for tracking,
identification or verification.
FDA Docket Number: 2002N-0204 Unit Dose Packaging Bar Code Label
Requirements for Human Drug Products and Biological Products. The rule
requires that human drug products and biological products, including
prescription drugs an over-the-counter medications that may be sold to
patients, be identified with a bar code at the unit-of-use packaging
level. The National Drug Code NDC must be encoded in the bar code
symbol. The product's lot number and expiration date may be encoded but
are not required. Microscan barcode readers are of course also capable
of reading Pharmacode symbols.
Fixed
position bar code scanners offer incredible reliability with high-speed
throughput. Software features such as Match Code Type ensure that all
products are correctly labeled by scanning the portion of the label that
identifies the contents. If the label doesn't match the product, the
product is rejected. For pallet labels with multiple bar codes, scanning
can be done with a raster scanning bar code reader.
